Draft for Glen Hankin, a UK-based sole trader. A lawyer should review this before any charge that is not the refundable pre-order. Square-bracketed lines are placeholders, not real details.
Controller: Glen Hankin, trading as PriceDiff, United Kingdom. Contact privacy@getpricediff.com. Site: getpricediff.com. Postal address: [UK POSTAL ADDRESS]. ICO registration: [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER]. No company number is published, because none has been supplied.
This notice covers the public site, the weekly digest, demo requests, pre-orders, and the crawler. It is written for the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you are in the EEA, the UK GDPR still applies where PriceDiff offers you this service.
What we collect
Digest: your email, the page you signed up from, and UTM parameters if they are in the link. We email a confirmation and store the address only after that message is sent. You can unsubscribe from any later message.
Demo: name, work email, company, optional team size, and the competitors you type. That is stored so Glen can reply. It is not added to the digest list.
Pre-order: Stripe collects payment details. We store the email Stripe sends us, the checkout id, the subscription id, the amount, and the status. We do not store card numbers.
Crawler: public pricing pages and Internet Archive captures. We store normalised text privately and show extracted facts (plan names, prices, limits) plus a short AI summary. We do not want your account data and we do not log in.
Admin access uses an allowlisted email and an access token Glen sets. It is not a customer account.
Why
Digest: consent, which you give by confirming the email and withdraw by unsubscribing. Demo and pre-order: steps toward a contract you asked for. Public pricing pages: legitimate interest in describing publicly posted prices, balanced by robots.txt, a rate limit, and a fast opt-out. We do not sell personal data.
Processors
Supabase (database, intended region London, eu-west-2), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (extraction and the short notes), and the Internet Archive (a source we fetch, not a processor of your account). If Plausible is enabled it is cookieless and receives a page view, not an email.
London keeps the subscriber and demo records in the UK, which matches a UK controller. Some of these providers may still process data outside the UK. Where they do, Glen will put in place the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the EU standard clauses plus the UK addendum, before launch.
Retention and your rights
Unconfirmed digest addresses are not kept if the confirmation email fails. Confirmed addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Demo requests and pre-order records stay for as long as the validation and the refund window need them, then as long as UK tax and accounting rules require the payment record. You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Opt out of crawling from the crawler page or by email to privacy@getpricediff.com.
The site does not set marketing cookies. The admin cookie is a login cookie for Glen, used only on the admin pages.
